Bon Iver Event Deliverables

Project Overview

When designing a series of deliverables for an event or product, you’ll want to determine how different layouts work best for different types of content. For example, a poster won’t have the same layout as an Instagram post. While they might advertise the same information, they’ll execute it completely differently to cater to that medium and audience.

I took on the challenge of making a series of event deliverables for Bon Iver, the indie band.

Behind my Design

Bon Iver’s arguably most popular work is his debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago. It was released independently in 2007. The album was recorded while the lead singer, Justin Vernon, spent three months alone in a cabin in western Wisconsin.

Something about that fact made me want to incorporate it in the visual element of my deliverables. To symbolize where it all begin, I created a cabin with trees and mountains as the focal point of my design. I also used colors like deep army green and a lighter beige green. This was intended to give off an earthy and down-to-earth vibe.
